2011 IAESTE worldwide exchange programm

My name is Víctor Simón, from Madrid, Spain. Next year I will finish my Telecommunication studies in Germany and I wanted to have a long international experience before going. These six weeks in the Telecommunication department of IMP have helped me to approach to the life at work in a reputable company.
The main objective of my internship was to get acquainted with high-speed signal propagation issues, simulation tools and crosstalk measurements.
Here in Belgrade, Spanish culture is very popular and well known. Many people can speak or would like to speak Spanish, so this made me feel like being at home. I have really enjoying staying here for this six weeks and I would like to come back again.

I am Hassan Ali Al'Amri, From Sultanate of Oman. Student in Sultan Qaboos University,College of Engineering-Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
I was working in Institute Mihailo Pupin-Telecommunications Department as a Trainee in the Summer 2011.
I have been there for six weeks and worked as a research engineer in Contiki OS and its applications, and the topics related to Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). During that period I have gained very good skills such as researching skills and working in the real working environment. However, these skills would never be gained without the help of the IMP-Telecommunications employees and especially my supervisor Mirjana Stojilovic. I would like to thank everybody in the Institute Mihajlo Pupin for every great moment spent with them. They are really very kind people. I am happy to have seen how friendly and kindly Serbian people is and to have a great memories from Belgrade.
My name is Christopher and I am on my last year of studying Information Technology in Munich, Germany.
In the fall of 2011 I came to Belgrade to do an internship, organized by the IAESTE, at IMP Telecommunications. Before going there I was often asked why Serbia? Why not some country more far away or more special? I couldn’t explain my decision. I still cannot do it, but for sure, I will never regret it. Despite of language problems as well as a completely different and sometimes exhausting way of life and mentality I enjoyed the 2 months which I spent there and feel a bit sad that this time passed so fast. I met many great people in Belgrade, other trainees, resident students and of course my collegues at IMP. From the first day on I felt very well at this company. The people were always friendly, helpful and courteous at work and during daily lunch we had together. My main task was to work with my supervisor Ms Mirjana Stojilović on writing a paper about FPGA routing network for Telfor ’11 conference. Since I was not very familiar with this kind of work, it posed a challenge to me. But whenever I had questions or problems Mirjana took some time and helped me as much as possible.
In the end I would like to thank all these great people for making my time in Serbia so enjoyable and unforgettable. For sure I will come back to Belgrade and I hope to meet all of them again!
